#1 = This is the range of colors that are available to you. it changes depending on which button in #2 is selected
#2 = This changes the range of colors you have to choose from and expands upon the smaller range.
#3 = These numbers indicate how much of each color will be needed when printing.(Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black)
#4 = These are the 3 main digital colors and their catalog numbers (ranging from 000 to 255)
#5 = this is the designated web name for the color chosen. In this case it would be written like this... ="#9BA3D5" in HTML.
#6 = the tiny circle indicates the color chosen. When unifying a web site, any of the shades of blue found in the box will work. They are all considered to be blue.
Color has two ways of being formed. One is by breaking light apart (Red Green Blue-RGB) and the other is by combining existing colors(Cyan Magenta Yellow Black-CMYK). Both create the same colors but the problem lies in the way they are transfered from one to the other. Your computer monitor is taking white light and breaking it into color, but when you hit the print button the printer must try to translate your RGB colors into CMYK colors.
In order to solve this difference, two different color registration systems have been created. Digital color is cataloged by using the "#" symbol and 6 numbers and/or letters. These colors are also expressed by using a number from 000 to 255 for each of the 3 light-based colors Red, Green, and Blue. The second system is based off percentages of each CMYK color. These range from 0% to 100% of each color being used at any given location on the printed material.
Now lets discuss the 8 major colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black and White
The following are what they stand for when presented alone...
Red = Power or love
Orange = Danger or Food
Yellow = excitement or energy
Green = Growth or Food
Blue = wisdom or peace
Purple = royalty or love
Black = confidence or seriousness
White = piety or cleanliness
(Black and White are technically not colors so when building unity
with colors they are not considered a true color.
This makes it possible to have 2 or 3 colors plus Black and/or white.)
